Wellness and Vaccination Schedule

All kittens should receive a series of (3) FVR-CP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calici and Panleukopenia) vaccinations. The FVR-CP series is started at 8 weeks of age and continues every 3 weeks for a total of 3 inoculations. The Leukemia vaccine series is started at 10 weeks of age and includes 2 inoculations given at 3 week intervals. The Rabies vaccine is given anytime after 4 months of age.

Cats that will be kept strictly indoors should then receive a yearly Wellness examination and FVR-CP vaccine.

Cats that will be allowed outdoors should then receive a yearly Wellness exam, FVR-CP vaccine, Leukemia vaccine, Rabies vaccine and fecal exam.

Starting at 10 years of age, your cat should receive a Wellness exam every 6 months.

The importance of regular physical examinations cannot be overlooked. This procedure is valuable both to your cat and to you. Problems can be discovered during the exam even in apparently healthy animals. The findings of the examination provide necessary information to assess your cat’s health status. It will allow us to make recommendations for any diagnostic, treatment or preventive health care procedures. Detection of disease or behavioral problems early in their course provides the best opportunity for successful therapy and often with less expense.
